COMMUNITY HUB

HOME > COMMUNITY HUB

At the WA Integrated Health Network Foundation (WIHNF), our mission is to bring high-quality, compassionate rehabilitation and wound care to Yakima County — so patients can heal close to home, surrounded by family and community.

We’re operating Yakima’s first nonprofit Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF), designed for patients who need specialized therapy, wound management, and recovery services following serious illness, surgery, or injury. As a nonprofit organization, WIHNF reinvests every resource into patient care, education, and community health programs to make recovery accessible for everyone.

Together, We’re Building Yakima’s Healthier Future

Yakima County faces major barriers to rehabilitation and advanced wound care. Many patients must travel to distant cities to receive the treatment they need — creating financial, emotional, and physical strain.

This creates:
  • Delays in recovery and loss of continuity of care

  • Emotional and financial burden on patients and families

  • Limited access to advanced therapies and rehab programs

  • Higher risk of chronic complications and readmissions

Our nonprofit IRF will
  • Keep patients in Yakima for recovery and rehabilitation

  • Provide advanced wound and therapy services locally

  • Create healthcare jobs and professional training opportunities

  • Deliver charity care and ensure equitable access for all

  • Strengthen Yakima’s overall healthcare network

OUR IMPACT

Yakima County faces high hospital readmission rates and limited access to short-term rehabilitation, particularly for patients discharged from acute-care hospitals without adequate recovery support. WIHNF will serve as a bridge facility, ensuring continuity of care, early intervention, and reduced strain on hospital systems.
